From Montrondo, following the signs for the marked route "Springs of Omaña River" it is possible to approach one of the treasures of the Cuatro Valles region, the birch forest of Montrondo.
It is a forest of birches, of remarkable dimensions, that occupies the north-facing slopes of the mountains that surround the town. In addition to its undeniable floristic importance, these forests of birches have an enormous importance for wildlife, especially for birds. In fact, some emblematic species, with serious conservation problems, such as capercaillie, find here shelter.
