In its middle stretch, the Torío River exhibits a wide fertile plane, where we can find optimal enclaves for bird watching.
The meadows and crops that thrive on both sides of the river are delimited by a very particular type of fencing: the hedgerows. These hedges have been handled since ancient times by the inhabitants of these areas. Not only natural trees and shrubs, which are pruned every year to get the desired shape, but also added branches and pruning are necessary for their elaboration.
The hedgerows provide shelter and food for a wide variety of birds, which are also favoured by the proximity of the river.
