From the Omaña’s course, in the town of El Castillo, a narrow road leads to the top of the Cueto Rosales. Beside it, extensive forests of oak occur where it is not difficult to see some forest birds such as Eurasian jays, or listen to the song of the common woodpigeon.
At higher above sea level, oaks give way to heather and broom, where other species, linked to more open areas, find shelter, such as the rock bunting, dartford warbler or common stonechat.
The viewpoint of Cueto Rosales offers splendid panoramic of the whole region of Omaña. There is not uncommon to watch large raptors flying over their territory in search of food.
