Cantabrian Mountains amass different types of lush forests including beech forests which are prominent. Cabornera beech forest is located in the middle stretch of the Casares River valley. It sits on limestone shelters facing north, with shady and damp conditions.
This forest is an optimal environment for many birds associated to forest environments. They find shelter and food there throughout the year. In its vicinity there are developed grassland and scrub areas where it is possible to detect other birds, characteristic from open environments.
